The ColloidFit is an autonomous multipurpose fitting software for colloid fate and transport phenomena in porous media. The software is accompanied by an easy to use graphical user interface. ColloidFit can simulate the migration of colloid or biocolloid particles in one-dimensional water saturated, homogeneous porous media with uniform flow, accounting for non-equilibrium attachment onto the solid matrix. ColloidFit is using the state of the art fitting software, Pest. Therefore, ColloidFit is able to estimate unknown model parameters and to calculate the associated 95% confidence internals.
Pest is a model-independent parameter estimation software, which can adjust model parameters or excitation data, so that the discrepancies between the pertinent model-generated numbers and the corresponding measurements are reduced to a minimum. Furthermore, given the advanced capabilities of ColloidFit, updated simulation results are provided graphically during the fitting process, so that the user can have a critical insight about how the various coefficient values affect the fitting process. Also, the model parameters, together with all necessary input and output information are displayed on the graphical interface. The fitting process may stop and resume at any point, upon user request. At the end of each parameter estimation-run, the best-fitted parameter values are displayed together with their 95% confidence intervals. Finally, extra attention is given to the way the raw data are manipulated by ColloidFit, so that data columns displayed on the user interface can be directly copied and pasted to Excel spreadsheets, by simple cut-copy-paste actions. It is worth mentioning here that in order to maximize the compatibility with the various operating systems, when pasting raw data to ColloidFit, the number format can use either “comma” or “dot” as decimal separators. There is no distinction between these two. However, when copying from ColloidFit the exported number format will use Operating Systems decimal separators.
